chat programs

i often find myself connecting to more than one chat service in a day, such as aim, .mac, msn, yahoo! as it is important to be reachable by many different people with different chat preferences throughout the work day.

i just came across a program for OS X called adium - it connects to all of the above chat services, as well as google talk, jabber, bonjour/renevouz, gadu-gadu, icq, lotus sametime, novell groupwise and yahoo! japan. an impressive list...

the features are great as well, with adium you can log your message history and open it, timestamped and searchable at any time in the future. the program itself is completely customizeable.

definitely a good step towards organizing your work day.

I'm curious to know how many chat bots there are out there, ala classic Turing test. Would be fun if someone created a "robot framework" where we can write custom robots (without being uber-programmers ourselves).
