3 years into running an SEO company, and I still get people asking me if they should purchase software that claims to optimize your site for the search engines.
The answer will always be no. The problems with such software are many.
1. The search engines change their criteria for ranking web sites more often than rain falls in the Amazon. From the time the concept of a new piece of SEO software is born, to the time the final product is released, the search engines will have undergone so many changes that the software could be completely obsolete.
2. Automated programs that set out to optimize your site can be full of bugs and add advertisements for the company that released the software.
3. There will never be anything out there in the SEO world that will replace the human eye. True search engine optimization requires it.
4. Most of these programs are released by fly-by-night software companies and if you come to rely on the software, 9 times out of ten, somewhere down the line, the company will no longer exist and you will no longer be able to get updated copies or bug fixes.
5. They usually cost money for all of their features. Your money is better spent on an expert SEO who will actually deliver results.
6. Automated submission software is detectable most of the time by the search engines and they don't like it. Search engines will always find you if you have other web sites linking to yours, there is never a need to submit.
Don't do it! It's not worth it at all. If you don't have the budget to hire an SEO, there is plenty of info out there on how to do it yourself. Just check out our Articles Section and feel free to ask any questions you may have in our Discussion Forums - we'll see to it you get your answers.
