I think it is a very interesting move by Google - though not entirely unexpected (if you recall, rumours about a MS Office-killer application to be released by Googe were circulating as early as late 2005, possibly even earlier). What I'm really anxious to see is whether this is Google's attempt to challenge Microsoft's dominance on the Office market or if Google has an entirely different concept in mind and the Docs & Spreadsheets software is just a part of moving towards turning that unknown concept into reality. After all, Google does have a strong record of innovation, so there's really no telling where they might be going with this. And if they do mean to compete with Microsoft, have they got the resources to do so?
Cheers,
George

I definitely think Google stands a chance up against Microsoft. Google has been, by far, one of the most creative and innovative companies in existence, and they've managed to continue to gain market share in the search engine race up against MSN and Yahoo!
I think Google is the force to be reckoned with, not Microsoft. Of course, I look forward to seeing how the management changes at Microsoft will affect the company.
