"Yahoo Mail recently launched their new webmail service, dubbed Beta(yes just like gmail) no doubt hoping to win back market share in the world of webmail. Their prime competition is gmail, which they've modeled some of the new features on"
Slashdot | The Troubles With the Yahoo! Mail Beta
I'm not sure why the other search engines keep missing the idea here, but the idea is innovation. When you model your "new" services off of someone else's old ones, you're not going to attract a new audience. What keeps Google in the forefront of the search engine race, is it's absolute commitment to innovation, new, fresh ideas. Google Earth, the Google Toolbar, Google Desktop, Gmail, and so on and so forth, are just a few examples of how Google continues to offer us brand new services, not mere carbon copies of what the other guys have done. Until Yahoo! and MSN start to deliver their own new ideas, Google will remain the king of search.
