Microsoft may not have been first-to-market with a digital mediaTechnology News: Portals Search: Microsoft Inks Mobile Search Deal With Sprint
player, but the company is the first of the three search titans to
align with a major U.S. wireless carrier.
I've always been less than impressed with Sprint. As my ex business phone carrier, Sprint made life a veritable Hell for me and my partners for almost a year. But we won't get into that.
Microsoft's Live Search is also less than impressive, offering absurd results for almost every search. There was a time when MSN's search results were my favorite, but that time has long passed.
So, a teamed-up effort by Sprint and Microsoft Live Search? Laughable. Google will soon offer mobile search on some other reliable mobile carrier and blow these goofs out of the water.

I can't really say much about Sprint as, living in Europe, I've never had to use it (and, from what you write, it's probably for the best) - but I agree that in and of itself Microsoft Live is hardly a substantial offering to wireless customers.
I'm also waiting on Google to offer mobile search, but they seem to be lagging a little it when it comes to penetrating the mobile market - Microsoft's partnership with Sprint is still a step up from Gmail for Mobile, as is Yahoo's agreement with Vodafone to supply ads to mobile phone users in the UK.
It's pretty surprising to see Google not leading the market in innovation and audacity. Mountain View, what are you waiting for?
